Horner's Syndrome

Hi everyone and happy holidays! I wanted to ask if anyone who has been diagnosed with BPI also have Horner's Syndrome?

As for me, after my accident my left side was diagnosed as a BPI. I also noticed that my left eye was different. The eyelid was and is droopy. Two and a half months afterwards, my doctor said that I might have horner's syndrome. Some symptoms that I have is the droopiness of the eyelid and my pupil cannot dilate. Although my vision is normal, my left eye feels weighed down. At my appointment with Dr. Terzis, she addressed this problem but I don't think she can do anything for it. Her specialist said that my eye will return to normal on its own but it will take three years.

I was just wondering if anyone else has this condition and is there any cure for it?

Hi Kim,

I have trouble with Horner's too. A lot of times my eye feels like there is a tiny pebble under the eyelid rubbing on the eyeball. It just drives me crazy! The Ophthalmologist says that it is just dry. They have me buying artificial tears. They recommend the gel tears and they do help some. They haven't told me that anything else can be done. My accident was in May of 2000 and none of my nerves have ever regenerated. I pray your's will!

I also have the syndrome. My eyelid hangs down a lot more on the left side (left bpi). It is really noticable when I am tired. I cut my forhead and right eye badly in the accident and when they stiched my right eyelid back together it stays up and open a lot more which makes them a contrast.
My doctor has never sayed anything about it improving over the years. He told me I could try and have it lifted up to match the other one with surgery. My accident was Aug 2002.

Michael also has Horners syndrome from bpi accident. Right BPI, right eye dilated. Initially was quite noticable, but now after 7 months there is not a great deal of difference between each eye. I notice it only because I know it is there, but most people would never pick it up. He has no vision difficulties which is great. As for the truth detector tool, yes it does work. When Michael has been drinking his eye gets quite red compared to the other one, looks more dilated and slightly cloudy. Michael's eye doesn't droop so much but there is a noticable difference with alcohol present. You will be able to pick up the difference between tiredness and drinking....trust me it is a helpful little sign....but then Michael is nearly 20 years old so not really under my control anymore....regards Narelle
