That's great news! A lot of Oprah's audience tunes into Dr Phil (that's where he got his start in TV) Here is a link on his website about your story:

Coming up on Today Show tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 13th. Looks like Dr. Phil will be answering email questions on the Today Show, on the same day as the BPI show will be airing. I am not sure how this will work but perhaps some of us can email him and try to get our questions on the Today Show. The timing is perfect.

MONDAY, DEC. 13 - TODAY SHOW
7:00 a.m. ET
Dr. Phil answers email questions from viewers.

That's great ... what should we ask him?

I was also going to mention that I included my pastor in a mass e-mail to my friends and family about the Dr. Phil show featuring a BPI family. So at the conclusion of the service this morning, totally out of the blue, he asked me to tell the whole congregation about the injury and the Dr. Phil segment (kinda cool, but talk about being put on the spot)!

Anyway, Lisa, you're helping ALL of us spread the word about BPI! Thanks again!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Hello from Canada. Just wanted to let you know that I am a mother of a 15 yr old boy who suffered this injury at birth. Being a first time mom back in 1990 with this injury happening to my son, I was devestated. I remember leaving the hospital with my new baby, his right arm just dangling, no movement whatsoever and the emotions I was feeling. I can tell you that we spent many hours during the first two years of his life at a wonderful rehab hospital receiving physio treatment. My son achieved 70% movement back in his right arm and manages well to this day. The option of surgery is now before us, which my son will help make the decision whether to go ahead with it or not. Being from Canada I believe he has had the best treatment available here. He is a very happy healthy active young man who I am very proud of. I hope that Dr. Phil is aware of this topic and I will be watching tomorrow.

I received an email from another bpi mother asking if I knew that I was going to be on Dr. Phil again this Friday evening. I had no idea at all, and am very surprised that the show is airing again, especially just 3 1/2 months later.

Soooo....it is time for a little more vulnerability and humiliation on national tv. I just need to remind myself...awareness is a good thing, and the very reason I exposed myself and my emotions in the first place.

I received emails from people who missed the show and wanted to see it, so it looks like they will now have another chance to catch it this Friday night. Check your local listings for the time in your area.

Lisa - you in NO WAY humiliated yourself! You were brave enough to get on TV and tell your feelings - feelings we ALL feel. I taped the show and have watched it often just because it touches me so much. I have had my friends and family watch it - and I think that they have a better understanding about the guilt a Mom feels when something preventable happens to their child, and also they learned what the name of Brittney's injury is - BECAUSE OF YOU! I think you are so strong!!! Dr. Phil is the only show I watch daily if I can (inbetween car pools, volunteering and stuff) because I think he is inspirational. I felt like it was me sitting there (sounds corny). Thank you again for having the courage. I thought Dr Phil's advice was so great too.
Lisa - you should be proud!
