Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Happy Birthday Jack!
You should realise Jamie that you too are a rock, and an inspiration and a support to others, including me. Your posts are always worth a look. And Gina truly does sound like a fabulous gal....
Sorry as I can be that you're here but REALLY glad to have 'met' you and next time I cross the ditch maybe I'll see you both, if not at Squires.
Have one for me :0) Jen NZ

Jamie...... what can I say mate, this really brought tears to my eyes! I cant express to you what a treat it has been having 'met' you as well! I love the smiley faces on the UK boards, you never allow me to frown or be depressed! You are truely an assett to our little crazy mixed up demented world that we live in now, with this injury that is! hehe As Jenny said, glad to you have come to us, sad but glad! It will be truly amazing to meet JGJ at Squires, hopefully we all can make it. Gina sounds like the kind of gal that everyone needs in their life! As you speak so highly of her I am sure yo utell her these things too, but will you thank her for me too? Its great to hear the support you get from her as i have met many who get none! You never cease to maze me Jamie! Your attitude around here has been AB FAB and has encouraged more peeps that you can ever imagine! Keep it up mate and Happy Birthday Jack!
