Hello to all! I haven't been on here in a long while! My son Roberto started kindergarten this year. He was going to ot every 2 weeks but had stopped right before the school year. Since he has started school he is having trouble w/ fine motor skills so, his teacher reccomened therapy for him again. He was just had a eye dr's appt and was diagnoised w/ visual developmental delays. He saw a specialist that he follow ups with and this is what she reccomened from that visit- needs ot for visual motor intergration & fine motor skills. Diagnosis: erb's palsy, mild Aproxca not sure if I spelled this one correctly. What I wanted to know is what are some problems to look for that could be arising in the future?? I know, about hearing loss& scoliosis. Is there some where that I can read info about this stuff also. I know they have pt& ot therapy's at the school shouldn't he be entilted to it?? Thanks for your reply in advance!

I think your son may have been diagnosed with DYSPRAXIA - it is a co-ordination and sensory issue.
My son ahs it too- it's quite common amongst boys
I live in the Uk, so I am unable to help with advice about your entitlement to Ot and Pt at school.
However if you look up dyspraxia on the internet, you should fnd some relevent and useful advice about how to best support his and meet his needs

There is also APRAXIA which is another thing our children commonly have. Apraxia is different from dyspraxia. Can you find out what the exact diagnosis is? Roseanne - can you post your email address? I have a lot of information on both and can email it to you.

Roseanne,
You need to get with the school and have an IEP evalutaion done for special ed services. There are services that you can get through the school system and he should qualify for them. Contact his school and set this up as soon as you can. Also, can you call me or e-mail me. My computer crashed and I lost all my contact information for everybody. I'm glad I saw your post here. Do you remember Monica Wilson? She lived here in my town then moved to New Mexico. She is back now and living in Woodbridge. She is looking for a doctor and therapist in that area for her daughter Jessica. I told her I would try to get in touch with you. Call me. 301-645-4619, or e-mail KLM816@comcast.net . Thanks.
