OOOOHH Jenn...nice one...you know my fave at the moment is to get a couple of fresh figs ('tis the season for 'em in Europe at the moment..) chop them up them squirt some of that runny hunny over them..not too much tho..then dollop on a load and I mean a LOAD of the real Greek yoghurt, not the pretend stuff mind, but the real unsweetened full fat stuff, then get a spoon, get stuck in and enjoy!! I also suggest turning off your phone and mobile since you will NOT want to be interrupted...!

I was just reading through the messages, and I know it was a while ago but I just recently found out that I have a BPI, do to a previous medical error. In May I had ankle surgery and I was put on crutches, but when I felt the hospital they never sized me for my crutches. About 1 month later I was having pain in my shoulder. I am a teacher so I was always using my arms and thought it had something to do with that, but I found out that I had worn the crutches to high on my arms, and damaged the nerves. Right now I am waiting to get my EMG, and resting. I am in a lot of pain and just wanted to replay in case this helps you in any way!

Guest s,

So sorry to hear about your injury and the pain you are in.

Also want to thank you very much for the information about the crutches. This injury happens to people in so many different ways.

Please let us know how you are doing.

Take care,
Hugs, Karen

Right now I am having a lot of pain. I am going to my doctor tomorrow b/c I hate taking all this med. But my mom keeps telling me I have to if I want to feel better. Luckly I am off for teaching for 1 month! I am having a problem that maybe someone can help me with my right shoulder is the one that started hurting, and I lost feeling in my right fingers, now recently my left hand has been aching??? Is that something serious? Also about the med. is it better to take a low dose med. more often or a high dose less often? Does anyone have any advise???

I happened to catch this episode today and, as usual, it was a huge disappointment.
I have learned by now that Dr. Phil has no concern for the plight of those suffering with misunderstood and misdiagnosed conditions and bringing them out into the public eye. He did not go into any detail whatsoever about the nature of brachial plexus injuries, but rather, berated the mother for being overly cautious and obsessed with her childs injury and neglecting the other members of her family.
I fully expected this to be his response (he is a psychologist, after all) and is usually out to lunch when it comes to dealing with medical issues.
In my opinion, he has no business even addressing this sort of issue on his program, but his lack of medical knowledge never stops him from dishing out the advice all the same.
I think it is shameful and not the proper forum for
this.
I recall a few months back when a woman had a very serious and chronically painful spinal disease and a no good lazy louse of a husband who was not supportive in the least. Dr. Phil's advice was something along the lines of her needing to stop laying around feeling sorry for herself and get on with her life... give me a break!
BPI injuries are indeed life altering, devastating injuries which are often misunderstood, misdiagnosed and poorly treated. I agree that someone needs to call attention to the issue, but it certainly isn't Dr. Phil!
What I don't understand is why I bother tuning in at all...it's just more of the same... Note to self: find a better use of my time during this time slot.
Seriously... I feel badly for all who had gone to so much effort sending in their stories... what a disappointment!
