How soon after a brachial plexus injury should surgery be done, if surgery is appropriate?

How do I find doctor's who specialize in perennial nerve surgery.

Do airlines provide free airfare for medically necessary procedures out of state? (we received 3 free tickets for Gianni to see Dr. Kline in New Orleans. American Airlines. He was eligible until he reached his 19th birthday).

What pain medications work best to help relieve the muscular, nerve and bone pain?

Is physical therapy helpful?

What is a muscle transfer, and who would be helped by it?

What surgery is available for winged scapular and what are the outcomes?

Why is trauma brachial plexus different from birth injury brachial plexus?

What area of the neck, shoulder, arm and hand are affected by which spine level? etc. T1 hand

What is the difference between stretched, avulsed and ruptured nerves?

What is muscle atrophy?

I'll try and think of a few more if you like.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Are there specific links or recommendations for treatment and therapy for adult BPI as a result of cardiac bypass trauma?

Hiya American daughter!

Getting FAQ's together about this injury, living with it etc is a huge subject as you know. We did something similar for the TBPI Group and finally narrowed it down to the 5 most frequently asked...have a look at these pages http://tbpiukgroup.homestead.com/faq_1intro.html they might give you a bit of an insight.

We found it was absolutely impossible to give general answers to specific medical questions like 'would muscle transfers work for me?' without repeating the same thing; i.e. 'only your physician would know this.'

Also, some questions would require country-specific answers like 'how do I apply for DLA (U.K.) or state benefits (U.S.) If you decide to go with questions similar to that, I would be more than happy to provide you with a U.K. specific answer, or you could just post a link back to the TBPI Group website...either way, let me know if you need any help...I'm always here for ya as you know!
