Meds and Careers
Thank you all for replying so quickly. My name is Sara and my boyfriend's name is Jordan. Computers and engineering were our first thought as well. I think engineering would be great for him because of his love for mechanics. Engineering is such a broad field any ideas as to what specifically he could concentrate in? Also Jordan has just recently started seeing a Nuerologist. It seems like he doesnt have aclue as to what could help his phantom arm pain besides nuerontin and the nuerontin just isnt...enough. I would be very interested to know what sorts of meds have been helpful for you all. This is still very new to us and Jordan has just now begun to accept and function well with use of one arm. Any info is helpful for us both

Re: Meds and Careers
Sara,
Your boyfriend is fortunate to have you caring for him. Try checking out this website to get the most benefit from the neurotin..crazymeds.org...For most of us the pain gets easier to deal with as our journey progresses. We tend to educate ourselves in pain management techniques. As far as careers go, I think it's wide open. I think we tend to limit ourselves mostly. In my experience I have found that the only one who can stop me from doing something is me. Good luck and keep fighting the good fight....Karl.

Hi Sara. Adam has gone back to school and will study engineering, he is thinking about mechanical or electrical engineering right now. As for meds and pain, we have found that it is a process of trying everything until hopefully something works. These message boards have helped with finding new things for Adam to try for pain. You will find that you are making the suggestions to the doctor instead of the other way around.Good luck to you both : ) Sam
