Question about TCH
Does anyone remember.....when does the staff at TCH contact you with instructions for BEFORE a surgery? Or are we supposed to contact them? How do we know when to get there, etc.? Any hints or advise on this would be appreciated. I feel like we don't know anything and the surgery is only a couple of weeks away. Also, does anyone remember any specific instructions they recieved, I am just curious and trying to get prepared. It is for a 2 year old. Thank you.

Re: Question about TCH
When we scheduled the appt. for our son, they told us they would be sending us all kinds of info in the mail and they did a few weeks before he had surgery so we could get everything set up, flight booked hotel etc... and the appts. for any necessary tests beforehand were set up too so we knew when to actually leave home and arrive in Texas by. You should probably contact their office and ask them asap.
Re: Question about TCH
The last 8 surgeries that Brittany has had, they call us the day before to tell us what time to be there and what time the surgery is scheduled for, and the time that you can't have any food or drink past, usually midnight. If you are not going to be home because of traveling, be sure to give them a cell phone number or get the number to call and find out the schedule yourself.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: Hi! I am Laura, the mom of Tyler, who has a ROBPI. I've been a member of this site since 1998 and owe a great deal to the wonderful people in the UBPN community who have helped us along the way get what we needed to get done for Tyler. Tyler is now 14 years old and in the 9th grade. He's a super bright kid and loves his video games. Tyler had the mod quad surgery with Dr. Shenaq shortly before he passed. That was his first and only surgery. Now that he is older he is requesting additional surgery. He'd like to be able to supinate. Our goal is for Summer 2013.

Re: Question about TCH
We received our info about 6 weeks before the surgery. I also called a week or so before hand to confirm everything. We were coming from out of state, so I didn't want there to be any suprises or cancellations.

Re: Question about TCH
The first 2 times we had surgery we were sent info then the last time I had to call and they said they didn't send anything because we had done this before and we were scheduled for a clinic visit and they usually give you the most important surgery info then. Just so everyone knows I found the newer Best Western to be a great place to stay and reasonably priced. Ask for the medical discount.
Re: Question about TCH
Hi, i just took my 1 year old son for surgery 4 weeks ago and I never was contacted by TCH. I called them and got the information I needed. Are u traveling out of state? Do you need hotel info or flight info? Who is the surgeon? Any thing I can help you with I will. I know this is a stressful time and questions need to be answered. Please let me know if I can help in anyway. Sincerely, Kimberlee - kimberlee_3333@yahoo.com
