Lawsuites & Settlements?

Post by Anita Hammer »

I know there are a great deal of you who are involved in legal battles as we ourselves are. . . . what I'm wondering is from those of you whom have won your battle. . . . was the settlement worth the fight? And what kind of ranges are out there? We live in Michigan and I'm wondering if this big battle we're going through is going to be able to make life easier for our family as a whole in the long run - and make life easier for Cassidy?

Just curious - no names are needed - and no exact terms - just generals would be sufficient - along with your state (hopefully).

Thanks!

I think it was well worth it for our child. We settled two weeks before trial (in Ohio). It's a real relief knowing our child will be able to afford therapy, health insurance, athletic club membership, etc. throughout a lifetime.

Why did we "win?" I think there were several factors:
excellent attorney, severity of injury, strong expert witness testimony.

For our city/county, the settlement was at the high end I believe. It's very conservative.

Our attorney made the experience tolerable. He was always confident and we were confident.

Had we gone to trial, I think all bets would have been off. I still don't see a rhyme or reason to jury verdicts with bpi cases.

Has your email address changed? Every time I have tried to send you something it bounces back as unknown?

Yes - it has - sorry!

I'm not at: AnitaMHammer@aol.com

Not real clever - but it's me!

ha ha

Thanks for all the input! I guess we're still hanging in there - and our attorney is very confident! He says it's basically an open and shut case - which it really is - it happened twice for gods sake! But the unknown is still killer!
