Hi Ashleigh's mom!

I have a 10 month old baby girl. We saw Dr.Waters in Boston for an evaluation and found him to be excellent. He is one of the top BPI surgeons in the country. You will be in good hands with Dr. Waters. He leads an international multi-disciplinary team researching BPI injuries and the timing of surgical intervention.

Krista's daughter was operated on by Dr. Waters. She can share the details with you.

Good luck! And remember you do have until 3 months for biceps to return (and actually longer than that before they will determine whether surgery is necessary).

My daughter is 10 months old and got hand to mouth a couple of days before 3 months old and did not need surgery and is making a remarkable recovery. I remember how anxious I was during the first 3 months, it seems like such a long wait!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!

It is reassuring to hear another mother tell me that biceps can return by 3 months. It is one thing to hear the doctors say it, but another to hear of a mother telling me her child had it happen. It brings me hope. I was nervous thinking that she is almost 2 months and the improvements are minimal. Perhaps I'm just being impatient - haha. I just want so badly for her to begin more movement in that arm. It breaks my heart to see it just dangling by her side. I guess I'm still saddened by the whole thing and feeling a bit emotional. Thank you for your response and reassurance. It means so much to me.

oops no I won't b/c your email is not there! :)
Email me and I would love to share my story and opinion of Dr Waters with you. Just write something in the subject line about BPI b/c I don't want a new virus. My computer crashed a few days ago and I am just learning that I have to be careful of what to open! :)

Ashleigh's mom,

Hang in there. In the beginning, the improvements I saw were small and happened later than I hoped. At 2 months we didn't have much other than some shoulder shrugging. After she got hand to mouth right at 3 months, things really started happening. My Jessica is doing so WELL right now, you can hardly even tell she has an injury!

If you email me, I can tell you more about Jessica's injury and my experiences - shellie1@patmedia.net
