How do I know when it's taking too long to heal from a broken arm?
I broke my arm slightly above the wrist last year in June(both bones in my BP arm) and I've been having wrist pain. Actually it's been bothering me more than before. Mostly it's annoying nothing I can't live with but how do I know when it's something I should check into further or if I should just give it time.
I can think of things that may be agrivating it but why should it get agrivated in the first place if it's healed.
Just thought I'd ask, I never broke a bone before. And I'm not sure how long it really takes for someone to heal totally.

Re: Wrist Pain
Traci, have they done a followup Xray or Ct scan? It could be there there is a bone spur in there or a subluxation? Or maybe even some nerve damage? I'd get it checked out by an orthopedic doc who is also very bpi knowledgeable.

Traci,
I fractured a bone in my bpi arm a few years ago. It took a very long time to heal. They finally did ultrasound treatments on it to increase the blood circulation and boost the healing and this seemed to help. Now it has been about 12 years and it only aches in that spot now and then.

Re: Wrist Pain
Thanks, I just feel silly bringing it up. I feel like I dwell on it, but maybe it's time I check on it further.
It's just hard to tell whether it's normal or not especially since it's in my BP arm. I did wonder at one point if something happened to the nerves.
Thanks again.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Your not silly for bringing this up. there is so little information on how are arms are affected by various "normal" things why not come to compare notes here. You never can tell when others have had the same experience
Hope its feeling better
