Ewan (AKA Yeti..) who is a committee member for the TBPI Group charity here in the U.K. recently attended a residential course for pain management in one of the leading hospitals in London. http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/page614.htm
The course is intensive, and has been set up particularly for people who have been in chronic pain for at least ten years. As Ewan has had a BPI for 30 years, after filling in a few forms and attending an interview, he was welcomed on to the course which lasted for 2 weeks. During his stay there, he took copious notes with the aim of sharing his experiences with everyone, hoping that others will gain something from it as he has done.
We set up a forum on the TBPI Group message board where he could share all he learned, and this can be reached at http://p072.ezboard.com/fadultswithbrac ... uriesfrm10
It is still a work in progress, and as Ewan has very recently had a family bereavement, understandably, he hasn't had much time to update it recently. I personally think he has done a great job so far and am looking forward to more in the next few weeks. I think that something like this, written from the actual personal experiences of one of us, and not by the professionals is of great value to the rest of us. Thanks Yeti!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Thanks for posting this information. I assume this type of program would be helpful for all of us who live with chronic pain and it will be great to follow his progress and learn from his experience.
