HI EVERYONE !! This is Sharon in Tucson, AZ -- the 52 yo with ROBP. OH, and just so you know -- the sweet Brooke is my dog LOL -- just my sense of humor, but also the screen name I used on AOL. Kath has been so kind to Email during an extremely difficult time and has provided me with much information and help. This forum continues daily to teach me things and help be with daily life in my rather recent exacerbation of extreme pain in my right injured arm. Until early this year, I'd only rarely suffered with pain or spasms and NEVER had spoken to anyone about it.
Long story short, however, I am now ending my first week on the Duragesic pain patch and only intermittment Vicodin. The pain in my right neck, shoulder, and arm is controlled sufficiently for me to return to a somewhat normal daily routine.
I hope in the future to see Dr. Nath, but am busy preparing for another surgery in August that hopefully will help my arm as well (although the surgery won't be on my arm).
Since I'm still learning how to use these Message Boards, I can't recall who was asking for "contact people"-- but I am very interested in representing Southern Arizona (Tucson) and helping in any way I can.
Soo much more for me to learn here, but today I read some repsonses about having a handicapped tag and thought yet again what an incredible blessing this organization and website is. Now I must consider disability and that causes me great consternation for some reason.
HAPPY FOURTH TO ALL and thanks again
Sharon

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Welcome back Sharon glad you feel well enough to post...
As for your sense of humor, I think when we loose partial use of our arms we get and extra dose of humor to sustain us... LoL..
It took me a while to learn my way around the message boards and how to use them ... don't worry you will soon be off and running.
take care happy 4th and don't play with fireworks..
Oh they are not legal here in NY.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
