We are finally heading to Boston for Michael's July 7th appointment at 10:45. We usually leave here in New Jersey the day before and stay overnight at the hotel right beside the hospital and then take our time going back home. We had our MRI taken and Michael did great. He layed perfectly still through the hole thing and didn't need sedation.
Now that it's been 7 months since he finished his chemotherapy treatment, he needed to catch up with his booster shots. Oh, boy was I glad that was over. 3 shots. 1st one was so so, 2nd went not too well, by the time the 3rd came he had had enough. Michael has his clinic appointment tomorrow to check his body and blood for a relapse of his cancer so please say an extra prayer tonight that he is still healthy. It's been 7 months now since treatment has stopped and I still haven't exhaled yet.
Michael's school has been great. We had his IEP this past April and they are all ready to get Michael what he needs for a successful school year in 2nd grade. We discussed with Dr. Waters and his school about Michael starting school in September and to biuld a relationship with his new teacher and new classmates first. Then at the end of September or early October pull him out for his surgery in Boston. He will have a school teacher come to the house while he has his cast on. While he is home we plan for him to visit his classroom and have his class sign his cast. I know this may sound strange, but I am excited for him. I am also a little scared at the same time. I am hopeing our visit with Dr. Waters will take that fear away and we can all turn the page in his life and begin a new chapter.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

It is not easy for all of us parents to see our children hurt, but we do the best for them. Good Luck.
