I am looking for any information on this procedure, success rates, information on the best doctors to contact etc... My background: I am a male 44 years of age with a massive rotator cuff tear on my left side. It was surgically repaired in November 03 with addition of tissue. It has re-torn and the third opinion I have received is to have this procedure performed otherwise surgical repair that was previously performed would gain most likely tear again. I have good range of motion and want to maintain an active lifestyle, mostly golf.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Re: latissimus dorsi tranfer
Hello
I don't really know if I will be of much help - my son had this procedure performed at the age of 9.5 years, here in the UK by Professor Simon Kay
He has gained a great deal of external rotation from the procedure and does not seem to have suffered any adverse effects, however he has had a brachial plexus injury since birth rather than a traumatic brachial plexus injury, so I don't know if the results will be the same for yourself - you might have more chance of an indepth answer if you post your message on the traumatice bpi board here at ubpn.
Good luck
Karen
