Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Bug bite on obpi side?

Post by Kath »

I have a bug bit or perhaps it might be shingles
I noticed a very red raised mark teardrop shape right under my ear and it stings a bit and hot to the touch when I checked it out in the mirror - yikes!

So I called the doctor and when his PA checked it out he did not know what it was and thought if it were shingles I would be in more pain.

I tried to explain that I have diminished feeling on my right side because of OBPI and got the blank stare... I explained if I feel it burning at all and pain it would be much worse on the left side... Oh well anyway it is on a gland and I am on Biaxin for the next 10 days. It seem that the obpi (right side) will get infected faster then my left side. If it was an insect he was a looser due to poor circulation he did not get much of me... LOL...

I just wish I knew what it was. Oh forgot he had two other doctors come in to check my neck and they did not know for sure because I was not in enough pain for shingles but were concerned. I guess lack of skin sensation can be a plus... LOL...
