Re: Deposition
Remember that you are there for your child. Bring something with you that will remind you of your child (something really small)and hold it when you feel you are losing your concentration. You can get as many breaks as you need. If you feel a breakdown coming on call for a 'break'. Remember that they will be pushing your buttons as much as possible because part of what they are doing is testing to see your reactions. They want to know if you will be good/bad in a trial. Your attorneys will talk to you about your depositions in advance. Trust their advice. And finally, good luck!

Re: Deposition
You are your child's voice. I will pray that you find the inner strength to hold your head up high, knowing you did nothing wrong and you're not on trial. I found that the depo empowered me. It was the first time to "confront" the birth practitioners involved and their depos were very revealing. I walked away more resolved than ever to stand up for my child.
Be brief, be honest, be strong. Your attorneys will coach you beforehand; take their advice!

Be Strong
Remember - YOUR CHILD IS THE VICTIM - YOU ARE THE VICTIM! The doctor's attorney's will try to turn this into "your fault" - and they will also try and find any little thing possible to make you "look bad" or like you're "exaggerating" - this can be very frustrating - I was absolutely furious! They asked very very personal questions that had NOTHING to do with Cassidy's injury. They asked my husband questions that they should have asked me - I believe just to try and shake us!
Whatever you do - be strong - and don't OVER ANSWER their questions. You almost feel like you are the one on trial - and you have an overwhelming feeling to justify yourself - you do not need to justify yourself! The docs are the ones on trial - NOT YOU!
Also remember that 1/2 of what they ask you isn't admissible in trial. A deposition is a "free for all". They are allowed to ask whatever they want to! Down to what size underwear you wear and how ofter you and your husband have sex! It's horrible - but that's our lovely legal system. Stick with it - hold your head up - and remember above all - if your doctor wouldn't have done anything wrong - YOU WOULDN'T BE THERE!
Good Luck!
