I have been reading your message boards for quite some time and was excited to see that there are treatments out there for adults.
I am a 31 yrs old with Lt. Erbs Palsy. I have contacted Dr. Nath and I am in the process of getting a video together to send to him to see what treatments would be beneficial to me. I move my arm pretty well. My main problem is my 90 degree contraction at the elbow joint. I have not experienced the pain that most of you mention. Just lately I am starting to notice some nerve irritation from my elbow that radiates down into my 4th & 5th fingers, and I do relate to the arm fatique with hair washing.
I want to thank you all for the questions and answers on the message boards. It has helped answer a lot of questions that I had, and it has led me to Dr. Nath. It seemed that his name and the Texas Childrens Hospital came up quite a bit on the message board, and therefore I am pursuing him as my doctor. Thanks again

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Welcome and I am glad that you have discovered so much information.

If you have any questions please ask away... I had so many questions when I found the message boards a little over 4 years ago. Once we started to ask questions of each other we were amazed at how much we had in common.

I, too, just found this Forum last nite and wept because I have never met or talked to anyone else with this birth injury. Yesterday, I somehow injured this arm and have been in such excruciating pain I barely know what to do. I called my internist and left a message and also Emailed Dr. Nath !! Dr. Nath has already replied to me and I've yet to hear from my DR who just like all my other DR for the last 50 yrs have never addressed my problem at all.

I wept when I saw the baby pictures and read the letters from parents with babies with BPI. Brought back more painful memories of my exclusion from so much as a child.

It is not clear to me if something can be done to help me at my age (52) or if I will have more problems as I age. But here I sit struggling with pain just typing this, unable to dress today, or do my hair. Any help from anyone will be much appreciated and my Email address is SwtBrooke@aol.com Thank you and hope all are having a good day.

Sorry about all the pain you are in, but it seems that whatever question you may have you should be able to find it somewhere on this forum. I have spent hours looking at this message board trying to find answers to my questions. If you are unable to find them just ask-the people on this forum are a wealth of information. It seems from my search that it does not matter what your age is-there is help out there.
