Prayers need for our premature grandchild

Post by Kathleen M »

This morning we were blessed with a new grandchild she is premature 29 weeks... My daughter in law has been in bed for 5 months and the last month in the hospital to carry her baby this far. Her water broke over two weeks ago and last night she had a fever and the baby was delivered this morning....
Her name is Grace Mary and of course we consider her and Amazing Grace that we have gotten this far. She was pink at first but now has lung and blood problem her white count is very low and she is in major distress. We knew that the first 24 hours would be critical but these added problems make her condition much worse. We need a miracle so please pray for my son and his family and especially for Grace Mary she weighed in at 3 lbs. 10 oz.

thank you
Kath

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Kath, you are on my prayer list, your new grand daughter is on top of the list. Please keep us informed and keep posting updates.

By the way, you are not the oldest one on this forum anymore, I am; I'll be 66 in June. WOW that sounds odd!I am sooo immature.

May God give Grace the best in life. My prayers and support are with Grace, Christa, Ralph, and the rest of your family and you Kath. May you have the strength to cope at this difficult time. Give Megan a big hug from me, she must be confused with what is going on.
Love and Best wishes

Best of luck to you and your family. I will definately remember Grace and her parents in my prayers. My neice was also premature and almost the small. She had many problems at birth as well. She is now 9 yrs old and healthy and happy as any child could be. God be with you.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Thank you all for your prayers. Grace is fighting a severe infection and they are not sure what it is. She is on a ventilator and cannot get her white count up to fight this infection and has had two transfusions and possible a platelet transfusion later today. Her white count is critically low at this point. The complete results of her spinal tap are not in yet.

The doctors said the reason she has survived and made any progress was prayer and to continue to ask for prayers for this very sick little one.

There was little hope for her survival last Sat & Sun…. Now she has turned a small corner and there is hope and some progress and that is so important for all of us.

Thanks for your support and prayers they are sustaining us during this time and helping us to maintain our hope and most of all your prayers are giving Grace Mary the strength to fight...

Kath, You and your family are in my prayers. I hope she will be alright. They are so fragile anyways...especially when they are premature. *HUGS*
