Re: Is it o.k. to not have surgery ever?
I had surgery because i was losing feeling in my bpi hand. Dr. Nath did an ulnar nerve transposition and cleaned out the scar tissue and now I can feel again in the fingers that i was losing sensation in. This is the only surgery i have had on my bpi arm.

I also agree that it is a personal choice.I had 3 surgeries when I was a child.I'm 51 now and ws not given a choice.Today I know I would not have bpi surgery.None of them actually improved motion. My arms (both arms are bpi)look fine. They aren't drawn up but my left is a little shorter and wearing long sleeves can be a problem. My shoulders are also small. One of my surgeries was a shoulder fusion. The only thing I got from that one was no left shoulder blade. We are a strong group and we keep on doing no matter what.

I would say it is perfectly OK.
I did have surgery just a couple of weeks ago. Already I can see a large improvement in my ROM...I can almost turn my hand over to face up, and can lift my arm about shoulder height...I can't wait to see how much it improves once they start the PT
Dr Shanaq did say, though, that we may need to do another surgery to remove some bone impingment I am getting in my shoulder that is keeping me from being able to raise my arm more.
