I was in hospital at USC for a month after my accident. The care I got was great, but I am still furious over how they dealt, or better yet didn't deal, with dispelling any information as to what a brachial plexus injury was and what to do about it. I must have asked my neurosurgeon a dozen times what my options where, and he kept on telling me to wait a few months longer and see what comes back. And if I said, 'what if nothing comes back?', he'd reply, 'maybe we can transfer a muscle or two.' Without ever helping me understand what the situation was, or what I could do about it or expect from it. Gladly I found help else where. I just wished someone said, 'hey, your arm could be paralyzed'. Then I would have jumped on the ball a lot faster and with greater intensity, than waiting around for a few months to 'heal'. I forget the doctors name, but he was from Yugoslavia, and resembled an old world butcher with big hands. And he was supposed to be their best. Check out UCLA, I did that as well with little luck and ended up at the Mayo Clinic in Minn., they were great and I highly recommend them. Feel free to email me so we can exchange telephone numbers and information. Sorry about the bad news, but I wish I had different offer. cljanney@pacbell.net

I also had a dirtbike reck which caused a full brachial injury in Dec. of 2003. I had a surgery done by DR. Nath in houston texas. type in "brachial plexus injury" in any search engine, hes the first one on the top of the page. email him with whats goin on with your arm or give him a call he will talk to you as long as you want and tell you your best options. Hes a great guy and he respects his patients. Give him a call...good luck
