Hey! I have Erb's Paulsey
Hey! I have Erb's Paulsey
I am so glad I went to the doctor to find that out. Everything went ok. My arm was twitching all day afterwards. She had a perplexed look on her face the whole time. The funny thing is that she had her residancy at Baylor. Anyway, she is drawing up the report and I get to go pick it up on Tues. She said that I have some damage on the C5 but more so on the C6. (If ya'll could explain that to me that would be great.) She also said that it has been there for quite sometime becasue it doesn't look new. Duh!! Anyway, Thanks for all of you support. I am a little sore right now but am assuming it will be worse tomm. She also asked if I ever had an MRI done. Is that something I should be looking into? Also, she said that it looks like I have a little bit of muscle deteriation going on. I didn't think so, but is that something that you think would be helped by surgery? I am going to ask Dr. Shenaq these questions I just wanted actual patient's opinion. Thanks again for all of your support. I guess the next step is surgery. I will let you all know when that is.
Re: Hey! I have Erb's Paulsey
Ewwww....I hate it when they tell you that like you don't already know that!!! ARG!!!
As far as an MRI goes...Dr Shenaq asked me if I had ever had one done (or an x-ray) on my affected arm. Since I had never had either, he ordered both. I did them about 2 weeks ago. No word yet though on what they showed.
I suspect he will order one for you too. Gives them a good idea of what is going on in your shoulder.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I am glad the test is over with and it will be sore for a while ... ouch!
I have had three emg's two on unaffected arm due to overuse and one on right OBPI arm (he drew blood with some of the needles ouch)!
Last June I was examined by Dr. Abbott in NY and he ordered a Brachial Plexus MRI. I am glad that I had it ... they discovered a bright spot in my spinal cord and he took me immediately to a spinal surgeon who checked and old MRI of my spine and said it was probably part of my initial birth injury...
Of course I assumed that it was from birth injury. I was relieved because if it had been a doctor not familiar with bpi they would have assumed it was a tumor or cyst and perhaps want to operate. Without being aware that this could be from an avulsion.
Such a complicated injury that so many thought for years was "just and arm"
Can't wait to hear the results of your visit with Dr. Shenaq. If he wants to do other testing go for it!

Hey Brian!! I'm glad you survived your testing. Don't you just love it when they tell you that. I laughed myself when they said that to me. I was like "duh". I didn't know that! hehehe..sorry.
You are definately heading in the right direction. I hope you get the answers that you are looking for. I'm sure that Dr. Shenaq will be able to help you out a lot. Hope your arm gets to feeling better. It's no fun when it twitches like that. Hurts!!
Take it easy this weekend.

Re: Hey! I have Erb's Paulsey
I got my results back yesterday. I was reading through them and found something kind of humorous I thought I would share with you. In her report under the Electrodiagnostic Impression, the first thing it says is, "Abnormal Testing." Does anybody else find that as funny as I do? The rest of it just says that my nerves are damagedand that I am only using 50-75% of my muscles in my left arm. I am now going to video my ROM and send this off to Dr. Shenaq. Have a wonderful weekend and I will let you all know when I know something.

I didn't get your e-mail Kath. I might have deleted it if I didn't reconize the address. Make sure the subject box lets me know it is you.
