Here in the UK it isn't your own personal decision to get one. If you can walk a certain distance without any difficulty, then no tag or disabled badge as we call them here. To be honest, after thinking about it, if you have lost the use of one arm it really isn't that difficult in my experience to be able to get a little help, particularly at supermarkets. The staff are usually more than happy to take your shopping, and your kids if need be, to your car. Far better in my opinion to give the tags/badges to those people who really do need them..people in wheelchairs, legs in plaster or whatever.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I agree and did not apply for my tag until I had so much damage to my "unaffected" arm I stopped going to the stores unless I had someone with me. Now I have the tag and my independence back and it is a blessing... also in areas here in the USA with very high population they are not going to assist you with bundles or kids sorry to say... they would have to higher extra people just for that job.

I got a tag for my daughter because she is in so much pain all of the time. It is a big help! It was easy to get one. I think you should definitely look into getting one. I also think it is crazy of people to think that you can always just get a baby sitter or take some one with you. Don't be embarrased -I don't think you should care even if people look at you funny because they do not know what it is like to struggle with a BPI.
