We got back from Houston on Sunday night. Kyle ended up having surgery on Tuesday as Dr Nath had an emergency on Wed. The surgery went very well, Dr Nath said it went better than expected. We found out that C5 & C6 were avulsed (the drs here kept telling us they were just torn). So, Dr Nath did 2 nerve transfers to get the bicep and shoulder function back. He also got scraped some scar tissue to help with the hand. Kyle is already feeling as though his arm is stronger, and his hand is feeling a lot stronger. Dr Nath said the bicep has a 90% chance of coming back, and there is a 30-40% chance that he will be able to lift his arm above his head. But, all we are really worried about is getting his bicep movement back. We could not believe how compassionate Dr Nath is, you can really tell he is in it to help people. He is a god send.
