Thanks for sharing this, Rich.
I've never seen the issue of timing explained so clearly.
Bravo to Dr. Waters for undertaking this study. It is much needed.

Great article, Rich. I think Cincinnati might be part of this study. I know they are collaborating with Dr. Waters on a multi-center study of BPI outcomes of some sort. Thanks for the info!

I know Dr. Kozin is involved as well. I think it is so wonderful that so many of these doctors are coming together from across the world to study and research together for the best interest of our children. Hats off to them!!! Thanks for posting the excerpt.

This type of study is such a welcome addition to the BPI world. Over here a similar study is being undertaken By Professor Kay and his team at St James's university Hospital Trust.
The team are working to produce a standardised care pathway for the treatment of both TBPI and OBPi cases, Professor Kay and the project leader are visiting a number of centres of excellence for the treatment of BPi and hope to include areas of good practice in the completed study.
At last there may be a unified approach for the treatment of BPi throughout the continent and the world.
I look forward to that day

Re: just an excerpt from a magazine
These injuries occur when the baby?s shoulders get stuck
on the pelvic brim during birth,? says Waters. ?This makes the
head and neck go in different directions, causing a tear in the
nerves of the brachial plexus
What's that statement all about? This makes the head and neck go in different directions? HUH?
"THIS" means>>>> the ob's hands pulling on the baby's head
Otherwise, decent article.
