Need HELP!!!!

Post by Williampgray »

Hello,
My name is william and I am suffering from brachial plexus. Guys....... I am 19 years old and i have been through 4 big surgeries in attempts to cure me. well my left arm is the injured side, I have heard that a Dina Splint could straighten my arm out. but I don't know......my question is ...Is their any specialists that I can contact them w/ my story and possibly find out if there is a cure? Also my injury wasn't from birth, during labor my doctor decided to deliver me with a metal tone like object. which tore my nerves in my neck leaving me with this. if anyone could be of any help please email me at bigwill1518@yahoo.com please!!!!!!!!

You are in the right place go to the medical directory http://ubpn.org/medicalresources/. This will be one of the happiest times of your life because you will find how much science has changed. Also, read a post by kamren called amazing to me. http://ubpn.org/messageboard/thread ... hread=8396

I can so feel your pain. Everyone here can. It is shocking how often this happens. My Dr was very surprised when I started talking to him about it, and how often it occurs. There are great resouces at the above mentioned sites.

Everyone here has been wonderful and very supportive. We are all in the same predicament, and learning we are not alone is the first BIG step:)

Hi William

Welcome to the message boards.
I guess we can all remember the feelings we had when we found out we were not the only ones with this birth injury.

I always thought I had a rare injury and was alone with my questions. Medical professionals did not seem to understand the questions I asked nor were they interested. So for over 30 years I stopped asking.

Pain was always a big problem and yet no one was able to help as the commonly held opinion was "there is no pain with Erb's Palsy" glad my Mother understood...

read all the information in the Awareness section of this site. It take a great deal of reading but it is nice to fully understand what happened to us and how it happened. It is great for the younger members of this community to find out that there is hope for surgery and some gains.

It is also nice to speak with other who truly understand where we are coming from. I have made many great friends through these message boards.

Ops! I almost forgot I am ROBPI and 64.

Hello and welcome. I just went to see Dr. Guggenheim in Houston. He just did a surgery on Deanna. If you go to Francine's website you can see the pictures. It is an external fixator which will help gain length and straigthen the arm. Although, it didn't quite guarantee me the same results, you may want to check in with him and see what he has to say.
If you want his number please let me know.
