I agree with all theat Deanna said.
It is a painful test and the couple of days after -- you feel the pain in every muscle.
However, look at it this way. If you feel it, it is a good thing, a very good thing, because it means that there is some innervation of the muscle and that means the doctors will have something to work with for the muscle releases and transfers. So you want pain! Embrace it.

Re: Surgery
Brian,
Yeah the test did hurt, however it is a great way to determine what is working and what is not. I'm glad you have decided to move forward with the surgery. Eletha just had her surgery with Dr. Shenaq. She said her arm is straight out though not in a pillow sling like mine was. She has to walk through doors sideways and things. I will talk to her and see if she can't send us a picture so we can check it out. If you have any further questions please feel free to email me.
Hope you get your test rescheduled soon.

Re: Surgery
Brian like yourself I am really kinda scared about the whole surgery thing. I am only 19 so we are both fairly young. There are so many things that we will be able to experience if we do this.. I know I want to I only wish when I was born they did this.. I have missed out on alot of things. But here we are with the oppertunity why not take it right?

Re: Surgery
The thought of surgery anytime is scary. I think you are absolutely right. If the opportunity is knocking on your door, open it. It truly has been a good thing that I had the mod quad done. Although I'm not having anymore surgeries I can so thankful for the length that I have regained. It'll definately be worth it for the both of you.
Re: Surgery
I agree Jamie, I wish this could have and would have been done at birth. My dad was saying that when I was born when he held me, my arm kept flopping around. When they asked the doctor he said that it was just dislocated and there was nothing to worry about. WRONG! At any rate I am actually excited at the fact of having it fixed. Even if it helps a little I will be happy. I just wish the doctor here would get the machine fixed to get an EMG. I did get your email Rachel, just haven't had an oppurtunity to reply. I called the doctor last week and they said by this weekend they should have it fixed. If not I told them I am going to another doctor. I can't wait any more. Anyway that is all for now I will quit rambling and move on. I will let you know when things start rolling here. Later. Brian

Hey Brian, thanks for keeping us posted. Hopefully they will get it fixed soon. I know its not very fun waiting and waiting. Especially when you wait your whole life! I hope it works out for you. Talk to you soon.
Re: Surgery
Thursday is the day. March 18th. I finally found a Dr that the machine is not broken. I told the other Dr and they were all upset. I look at it this way. I don't want to go to a Dr where the machine might go hay wire and electrocute me. I think I would definatley feel the pain that way. Anyway I will let you all know what happens.
