Hello,
I have a 6 ear old daughter with TBPI. While in the hospital last month, a social worker briefly explained section 504, and that Savannah should be receiving the benefits of this in school.
I am looking for anyone who has pursued this, and what specific benefits you hve sought. The social worker mentioned that Savannah should be receiving OT in school, as well as general assistance. This would really help, as our insurance only covers one OT visit per week.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Section 504
Stephanie I heard as well that "our" children should fall under section 504. Brachial Plexus injuries fall under Orthopedic Impairment, which is under section 504. I dont have much detail, am researching it myself. If I come up with anything I will post it.
Re: Section 504
Rich thanks for the great websites. You seem very knowlegeable with all this. That is great. I have a question for you or anyone else that wants to answer. Someone once said to me, Once your child hits school age you don't want them labeled as a child with a disability. I am not sure why they said it or if there is a stigma about it. Is it like something that follows them ALL through school and is it a bad thing? I want to fight for services for my son but will it be a bad thing for him. Anyone want to comment on this?

Thank you Rich. These sites have been very helpful. I wish I had known about 504 before now.
