Very busy in GA - PT / OT Question

Post by twinsxx2+one »

Hey everyone, hope you are all well, we have been so busy, I'm trying to get more sleep, obviously not tonight! Carson turned 6months old last Thursday, we are almost 3 months post primary. Have not seen anything yet, but we are very patient. Therapy is going well,we are starting e-stim next week- any thoughts?
My real question is PT/ OT - what does everyone else do? Both?
Thanks - Jamie

Jamie.... six months old! wow! You must be having great fun - 6 months is a great age if I recall.

I'm curious about the estim - is it NMES or TES ? I know that the protocols change all the time, but are they doing e-stim on babies this young already? We were told that before age two NMES harms the growth plates of the bones. If you want another opinion about this you can contact Dr. Karen Pape at info@tascnetwork.net - she is the doc who invented the TES - and works mostly with all kinds of e-stim for children with neuromuscular issues... run your therapists plan by her. She works with TES, NMES and FES and EMG/FES. Her site is www.tascnetwork.net.

anyway - good luck with everything and give the baby a kissie from us,
francine

Hi Jamie! Six months old, so sweet :-) I was also told no NMES, E-stim until age two. Maybe you might want to ask the PT what her intentions are. How will this benefit the baby? Are there any precautions? And then share with her what you know. Good luck!
