NICE one Jamey...guess we all have a name for this faceless bluddy pain that can rule our lives...if we let it...my name for it is unusable on here...the good people who run these boards would have banned in a blink of an eye if I posted it!! but I'm sure anyone could guess it. It can help enourmously to name the enemy...at least then you have some 'real' thing to concentrate on.
I see it as a wolf who sleeps just outside of my conciousness...ready to get rabid and angry at the slightest provocation or when it gets hungry. Sometimes, it just paces around looking for a reason to howl and break into my life, other times it rears up slavering and rabid without needing a reason.
It took me a while to get a collar on this wolf, and now it also has a chain attached to that collar, and I can yank it anytime the beast gets too noisy...yes..I am in control, no matter how often it bites or snarls...one good yank on that chain teaches it who's the boss.
I guess it will never really go away, but it's under control; long may it last. Like you say in the poem, without me, my little/not so little friend wouldn't exist. With me it does, but under my terms...
Well done James....food for thought alright...
Take care
Lizzy B

Jamie, that was GREAT! I have never looked at pain in that manner before, it really is the truth! I will have to have a name for my pain and I think maybe a stuffed animal with the same name that I may kick the sh*t out of if I need. Best of luck with everything!

Thanks for your replies and we definitely agree that since we called Jack,Jack it's not so negative when I get asked how's Jack? as opposed to how's your Pain? What we have is not a guitar that we can throw down when the going gets tough, we have to wear our pain/Jacks/Wolves wherever we go.
thanks again BE STRONG BE SAFE,Jamie/Gina
