Christi-
Hannah had her Mod Quad done in July we just heard from them about our video. The video we sent was made in Oct. and they just reviewed it. They recommend this same 3D CT Scan of Hannah's arm. We haven't made the appt yet. I think that it is 2 early to tell if mod quad is going to help. Dr Nath told us in August lets give it 6 good month to see if Mod quad would help with Hannah's dislocation. It's just now 6 months. So I quess what I am trying to say is I am not ready to let them operate on her again so soon. Especially since I have seen such postive return.
Are all children sadated for that particular scan??
And I glad to hear all went well with your daughter

Re: 3-D CT Scan
They are not all sedated for this procedure. But they do have to lay still. My son was 5 1/2 when he had it done and did not require sedation. Stacey

Re: 3-D CT Scan
the 3D ct scan is a very short test...takes about two minutes... if your child can stay put for two minutes then they don't have to sedate
with Maia, they laid her on the table and wrapped her body in a sheet and then put a velcro strap on her so that she wouldn't move
I stayed in the room with her and held her legs and feet so that she knew I was there.... they had music playing - it was fast

I understand that you don't want to even think about surgery... I TRULY understand!.. but at some point it'll be very interesting and helpful to see a scan of her with the 3D imaging - have you seen some of Maia's scans?

it helps for the therapists to see it, too.... we are planning things differently for maia now

Re: 3-D CT Scan
my son just had the 3dct yesterday... no sedation it took about 2 minutes and he did great. we opt for no buckle as that scared him.. i just held his tummy and sang to him!
Re: 3-D CT Scan
My son (almost 3) had the 3D CT scan a couple of months ago (in Oct - he was 2.5 at the time) and we scheduled the test for the middle of his nap time and I gave him a small dose of Benedryl prior to his nap (I checked with my ped and they said that it was OK - and gave me the appropriate dosage. We use Benedryl anyway, since my kids have food/sensonal allergies...)
He fell asleep right "on schedule" and I was able to take him to the radiology office, lay him on the table (I stayed next to him the whole time to make sure that he didn't move) and they were able to get everything that they needed without going to the hospital, etc.
I just thought that I would mention this in case it helps someone else.

BTW, we just got a call from Lisa at TCH yesterday about Michael's 3D CT scan (the final pictures, etc wen to TCH about 3 weeks ago - the radiology department messed it all up - Grrrr) and Dr. Nath feels that Michael would benefit from the acromioplasty, so I'll be setting that up for sometime in the next couple of months.
