My daughter is now almost 8 months old and I just found this sight. You guys are wonderful. I feel like I have found more information here than anywhere. My only concern is that I have not been informed enough to keep up with everything I should be doing.
Kaci had surgery 11-25-03. She is continuing therapy, but we are not scheduled to meet with TCH until May 25, 6 months post surgery. Is this normal? All of you seem like you keep more contact than that.

It is normal not to return to TCH for 6 months. At least for us it is. We go every 6 months. Kayla has had 4 surgeries and the last one was in 2000. She still will have more surgeries. Going every 6 months they can see if she has had any improvement or not. If you feel you need to go sooner, if you have a concern I do know they will get you right in. Also, some people just send a video tape. Kayla is now 8 and I don't think a day goes by that I don't learn something new regarding the BPI. Try not to worry and feel free to ask any questions you have. I hope your daughter has a great recovery from the surgery.

Jill,
Where in Oklahoma do you live? I live in Wichita, but travel into parts of OK quite a bit. There is at least one other family here that lives in OK. I think they live around OKC.

Hi Jill..... since you are questioning the length of time between evals - you might be getting some guidance/gut feeling that it may be time for her to be seen now...
Why not just send in a video... just for your peace of mind. They never turn away a video and it'll be good for them to take a look/see. http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/video.html
here's the address and all...
good luck,
francine
