going to shriner's in philly this month

Post by jacobsmom »

jacob and i are heading to philly on january 22nd for his ant caps on the 26th and he desperately wants to play in the snow that weekend before his surgery. we live in south texas and he has played in snow one time "my whole life". we will be staying at ronald's house in camden. does anyone know if there is somewhere close by to throw some snowballs, sledding, etc? i've tried the website but can't get on for some reason. i have the phone number though and can call this week. any info would be helpful. thanks angela

Angela,
We're about 1.5 hours north of Philly in the mountains of PA. If we have snow in the backyard you're more than welcomed to come up.

I don't know anyplace around Philly/Camden that has snow activities - it gets a little warmer down there. There's a ski mountain around Mackungie which is a little over an hour north.

If you don't find anything and want to give our yard a try give me a call to see if there's snow left. Maybe Francine will check in an give you some suggestions.

I wish I could help with the snow but I just wanted to say that you are in great hands. Dr. Kozin is a wonderful man and a very skilled surgeon who is very dedicated to research and bettering the treatment for our children. I think you will be very pleased with the anterior capsule release procedure.

thank you for the info and the invitation but i don't trust myself to drive in any snowy/icy weather. that is one thing we don't get any practice with down here. maybe there will be some snow falling this week with all the cold weather you are having now. i'll keep my fingers crossed. we will arrive there around 530pm thursday. let me know if you hear anything from your local weatherman. thanks angela
