going to Kansas City

Post by kzd02 »

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since we've been online. Zoe is doing good, but we are not able to go to Texas for the mod quad. There is a doctor in Kansas City that she can see though. Anyone been to Dr. Rinaldi? Also, since it is so far, we will be staying overnight. Does anyone know of any good places near the hospital? We will be there Feb. 24-26.

Thank you

Hi Kimberly,
We live in the Kansas City area. I know Dr. Rinaldi pretty well. He's a really nice guy, and great with the kids. He's very thoughtful and helpful. However, we do go to Texas for surgery. The KC brachial plexus clinic is still young and I wanted to go somwhere where they had lots of experience.
Where do you live?
I can look up places near the hospital, but couldn't tell you off the top of my head. There are two very nice, but most likely expensive places right next to the hospital. The Westin Crown Center and Hyatt Regency. I'll see if I can find any other places that are more reasonable.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Jaime. I'm glad to know Dr. Rinaldi is nice. We were going to go to Texas, but Zoe's insurance wouldn't cover it. She was actually supposed to have had the mod quad and caps in November. We live in Cape Girardeau. It's a little over 8 hrs, I think. So we are flying. I'd appreciate any hotel, restaurant suggestions. Our e-mail address is kzdunning04@sbcglobal.net

Thanks,
Kimberly

Dr. Rinaldi is nice. I see Andrea the ot therapist there at Childrens Mercy. It is a very nice hospital.

I have only met Dr. Rinaldi once but liked him.

THere is a mid west brachial plexus organization Beth and Mike Gehring who might also be able to help you. THey live in the KC area.

I believe they have a website as well.

I will say that Children's Mercy hospital is one of the top hospitals in the nation. It's an outstanding facility and they take care of a lot of different patients....Their BP clinic has been in existence for about 5 years now, and to tell you the truth, I don't know how many or if any BP surgeries they are doing. That will be a question for Dr. Rinaldi. I'd be interested in hearing his answer.
We too went to Andrea the OT for years before we moved. She's great.

Kimberly,

Glad to hear that you are working things out with the insurance to get Zoe to a specialist. We do have some information on Children's Mercy on the medical resources directory here. Both for Dr. Rinaldi
(http://ubpn.org/medicalresources/missouri-bpi.html)
and for the therapists, Andrea Melanson and Amy Kiser (http://ubpn.org/medicalresources/mi ... pists.html)

Good luck and it is good to hear from you again.
