Just wondering if anyone had experience with financial help when staying out of state during surgery. We are staying in Boston for 3 nights (I think 3) during Ella's surgery this month. I know they have a medical rate, but it's nothing too cheap. If I have to pay for the full amount for 3 nights it is going to be hard since we have other financial responsibilities this month that are more than usual. Any info let me know. Or email me. Thanks.

Krista,
Is there a Ronald McDonald House there? That might be an option.

If you have AFLAC supplemental insurance you can submit for their allowance while your child is in the hospital.

If it is the Shriners hospital that you are going to, you can talk to the local shrine there and see if they would help. just an idea

Dear Krista,
There is a foundation called first hand foundation that helps families in need. They will pay for hotel, airfare, food, and transportation. It goes by your income. You will need to fill out an application and get a letter of referral from your family dr. and also your most recent w2 or tax papers. For my son's first surgery they paid for everything, except the surgery. This time they paid for my airfare because that's all I asked for. They are very nice. The only thing is that they only hold a meeting the first week of every month to see if your eligable, so if you need it right away, this won't work for you. If you can't use it this time you can write their name and number down for next time. I had them fax me all the papers so I got it quicker. If you have a fax handy it would easier for you.
The number is 1-816-201-1569. A computer will come on then you need to press #2. The woman's name is Shawna Hill. If she is not there leave her a message and she will get back with you. They are open to 5:00p.m. central time. I really hope this will help you, it really helped me. Good Luck!!! My prayers are with you.

It is all in the advertizement. Call a local hotel and ask them if you can have a discount rate and explain to them your situation. For instance, I can get free flight tickets, so I thank Northwest Airlines. "THanks to Northwest Airlines" Maybe you can post a thank you here and let them know you will be giving them a good word and spreading their reputation. It will not hurt to try.
