I know that people have posted about this before but I am honestly, in too much of a hurry to search and try to find it. Instead, I thought that I would start a new thread and ask if anyone knows of specific airlines that offer deals when flying for surgical purposes? Sam is finally having his mod quad done in Feb so we have a little bit of time to get tickets but I wanted to start doing my research and footwork now.
Thanks in advance.

Karen,
Get in touch with Tami Schenck (tami@ubpn.org). Tami is the chair of UBPN's Wings Program and can help guide you through this process and write the letter that many agencies need from a non profit.

Re: Cheap Airfare to TCH
hi Karen... here's the listing
http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/travel.html
it will help tami if you go to orbitz.com yourself and find out which airlines have non-stops from where you live to houston - or at least go in a straight line there...
if all else fails - www.miracleflights.org will get you there within 16 days of application and all the paperwork is right there on the site - you just need to have your pediatrician sign one sheet... they mostly send kids with bpi for surgery
good luck,
francine

Please email me and I can help. Thankyou Francine for mentioning that. Of the major airlines, Southwest, Northwest and American have been generous in donating tickets. I am not that familiar with Miracle flights but Francine's site does an excellent job of highlighting everything.

Karen,
so glad to hear you got it approved!
Lizzie is supposed to have caps in the spring-when in Feb are you going?
Tickets were donated to us by Northwest the first time (thanks to Tami and her help) and the second time we went through Miracle Flights. We are so grateful for both. FYI both flights involed lots of changes. Including going from Texas to Minnesota and then down to San Diego. All the flight attendants are so supportive when they find out which is great because it ends up being 7-9 hours with the changes. Modquad was the interesting one because Lizzie kept hitting the lady next to us in the head with her splint.
Best wishes!

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for asking about the baby. Yes, she is due January 15th. Things are good. I am just tired of worrying about stress, delivery, and all of the other "stuff" that goes along with brachial plexus anything (if you know what I mean).
I hope that you are doing well. Sorry I have been super flake. Not my intention. I get lost in time and wrapped up in life, like most though, I suppose.
Thanks for the flight tips. We had to change to a PPO to get things taken care of but, oh well. Sam needs to have the surgery so there wasn't much of an option. We were running into a bunch of brick walls aside from your lead. Thanks again for that, by the way.

We are supposed to be at the hospital on Feb 18th. I am so nervous. I know that Sam will be a trouper as he has been this entire time through everything so far.
When are you going?
