Do not mix Neurontin with Maalox!

I'm very surprised that I haven't read on the boards that Neurontin should not be taken within 2 hours of taking an aluminum-or magnesium-containing antacid. I checked my Maalox bottle, both ingredients in there. My tums however, have only calcium carbonate. Especially important as most Neurontin users get upset stomachs from all the other drugs they have to take. I received this information on a printout I get with all new medications I'm prescribed.

Thamks for the helpful info--I am a Hospice nurse, and have many patients on neurontin for nerve pain--had never heard that about maalox--what is the result of mixing them within 2 hours?? I assume a GI upset?? Let me know so I can pass it on to my colleagues in hospice! Hope all is well with you~~~~

The literature doesn't say, but a stomach ache is possible as I have had that. I don't know if it would cancel out the neurontin or not???
