Collingwood sounds good to me.
Although Vegas has its appeal: heat, booze, slots, and Celine Dion. 3 outa 4 ain't bad
Several years ago I was approached by an older one-armed gent in the local post office who offered to teach me golf. Apparantly, he and two other one-armed friends were looking for a fourth. We shared a laugh over the sight of four one-armed golfers, so I'm sure we'll raise eyebrows where ever we go.

Yeah I know .... Collingwood doesn't really appeal to me either for a weekend getaway. Vegas sounds a lot more exciting. Warm weather, the slots, a nice pina colada, sitting in the sun by the pool. I would love it. I need to win the lottery first and like I said, "first things first" my injury to take care of. If you guys go in the distant future, when I have money and I know more about my arm, I'm in!!!!! I'll be in on the fun though until you actually go. So when are you going? I guess New Years Eve is too late for a booking. That would be a hoot. Have fun planning guys.

Karen,
Which airport is the closest to Collingwood(ex:Toronto, which one?) and are there some resorts on the Bay?

Re: weekend get away!
Check out Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood ON. They have 2 or 3 bedroom condos with jacuzzi and fireplaces, 1 1/2 hrs from Toronto (YYZ) airport.
Re: weekend get away!
I vote we go south! its too darn cold for a Florida boy to venture North in the winter. Keep me posted. Vegas is warm: )
Re: weekend get away!
Hi Allison,
Yes Toronto airport. Collingwood is 2 hours north of Toronto. Blue Montains has a couple of resorts with jacuzzi's. Right now there isen't much going on there cause there isen't a whole lot of snow yet. Give it till Xmas, then it's rocking. When my funds are better down the road, I would love to go out your way. It's gorgeous out there. I was living in Vancouver when this injury happened. I passed through Manitoba. I'd go back for another visit.

Karen,
Which part of Manitoba did you like? I live about 60km(36) miles north of the Capital, Winnipeg and 1/2 hour south of Grand Beach, one of the top 10 beaches in North America. I live in a very small town,Libau. In fact it's so small, twice I've gotten mail addressed to only Allison, with no last name. You're out in the boonies now too? Which town?

Allison,
I really liked Winnipeg. I thought the city was set up really different. Very windy though. It must be very small town if you got mail like that. I would love to visit you down the road. I love the beaches!!! I am a sun and water freak. That's why this injury happened, believe it or not, I was sleeping on English Bay in Vancouver on the beach and the tide came in. I woke up suddenly and bolted up tripping over rocks beside me and landed head first into the brick wall. That split second changed my life completely. Anyhow, I'd like to go out there. Right now I am staying with my parents on Christie Beach, a small town inbetween Thornbury and Meaford. About a 30 min. drive to Collingwood. I need to get to a bigger place. I am thinking Toronto or Barrie. Have you been to T.O. before? Karen

Re: weekend get away!
Karen, I've only been through the TO airport. A weekend trip to TO would be very cheap for a lot of BPI's in the vicinity. There must be a show or something in TO to take in one weekend. I've checked out packages to Vegas and that's about $1000 for me-incl hotel, for a 4 night trip. A weekend flight to TO is only $300 not incl hotel. My husband is going to TO Dec 15,16,and 17 but flights for those days: are you ready for this, $1200. So I won't be going unless we incl the weekend before or after. p.s. Karen how old are you? you can e-mail me back privately if you want. I don't think any of your posts say how old you are.
Take care,eh.
Allison.
