Hi everyone!
This is Suzie--David's wife, (Michelle & Lindsey's mom, etc. etc.) I am THRILLED to report that David's repeat EMG shows marked improvement in his neurological status!! yeah!!! Dr.Rechthand, THE EMG guy according to Dr. Belzberg, said David's recovery was "remarkable" and "fabulous"--this from a guy 3 months ago who said--"I HOPE we can do something to help you"--Now on to see Dr. B, and then I guess an orthopedic guy for a big shoulder repair--will keep you all posted--thanks for all the kind words and support! ~~~Suzie~~~~~
Some encouraging news!
Re: Some encouraging news!
Hi Suzie,
FANTASTIC!!!!! I am very happy for David, you and your daughters. You are absolutely right about it being ENCOURAGING news. David must be estatic with what Dr. Rechtland found from the EMG report. That is great Suzie and I wish David all the best with his shoulder repair as well. I think Suzie you were a big part of David's recovery. He has been very lucky to have a very loving and supportive wife as he has with you. That makes a world of difference to have positive people around you during trying times as we all have been experiencing. All the best.
Love, Karen

Suzie and David-
I'm truly happy for you and your whole family. It really shows that positivity can bring miraculous results. Suzie, you have been a cheerleader for me personally and I'm sure for quite a few other people on this message board. For David, I couldn't wish for a more perfect wife to accompany you on this hard walk of life. Congratulation and keep up the hard work! Say hi to Dr. B for me when you see him again. Take Care!
THANX LOVE SUSAN

Dear Karen and Susan--
Thank you both for your kind words--it really means alot!!! This guy I'm married to makes it real easy to be encouraging and work hard to get him better--he is basically a pretty good patient--a wonderful daddy to our girls, and my best friend for the past 24 years!! He is like a big kid alot of times (hence the softball at age 46!)--I often say I birthed 2 kids, but in reality I have 3 !!!!! While life has not been easy alot of times, I can always say we get more accomplished when we work together--WE(David and I ) can do anything together! You know, for better and worse, for richer and poorer, in sickness and in health--well, we got the poorer stuff down pat (gonna get worse with college coming up!), we go thru the better and worse, and sickness--like I tell all of my hospice families--you revel in the good days, and get thru the bad--take 'em one day at a time---anywho, will keep you all posted--think we can see Dr. B on the 21st--then David and Michelle are off to the National Field Hockey Festival in California over Thanksgiving--Michelle is playiong--NOT David!!ha!!
Much love to you both!! keep in touch!~~~Suzie~~~~

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
