rolling over...

Post by admin »

This may sound like a stupid question to ask, but I am a little nervous when ELla rolls over. When she rolls over, she rolls from her tummy to her back by the injured side first, so her body is rolling over on the injured arm. Could this hurt her? Or do I have nothing to worry about? Thanks!

You have nothing to worry about as long as her injured arm is in a safe position -- ie above her head or at her side. I know that for my son, Josh, it was much easier for him to roll over his injured arm. He could use his stronger arm to help lift his body off the ground to be able to roll. Now, ~4 months later, he is just starting to be able to roll from belly to back over his uninjured arm. Congrats on the new milestone!!

Hello, my daughter rolled over the same way and as long as her injured arm was in a safe position all went well.

I remember the same thing. I would have to pull his arm out from under him all the time because it would get stuck under him. I know this sounds stupid but if I saw him in a weird position I would get myself in the same position to see if it would be painful or just not right. We spent a lot of time rolling around on the living room floor together! (((Funny image)))!!
Good luck on the progress, she'll be walking before you know it!
