Doctors near Oklahoma? Treatment other than e-stim or ROM?
Hey guys this message board rules! Thanks to all those that are keeping this message board going. I really appreciate everything more than you know. My name is Allen and I'm 21 and live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am looking for a BPI specialist in the U.S.?? I'm willing to travel anywhere. Name, address, or webpage would be perfect. What about neuromuscular stimulators. Do they work? Where do you find e-stim machines at? I'm sorry I have so many questions, but I'm not seeing a specialist yet and i don't think I am getting the right treatment, such as, I scratch my upper back and pain shoots through my arm! Could that be an avulsion or 2 or 3??? I have told the doctors about it but nobody has even looked at my spine yet! They just look kinda confused Please Help. I need a specialist. Again I want to say thank you to eveybody that is trying to help. With this injury you sometimes feel lonely because this injury is "rare" according to some doctors. But this Website and message board brings new hope. Hope is enough to keep me going. Thanks and God bless!

Hi Allen...
..yes..we all at some time with this injury thought we were alone with it...the drs. tell you it's a rare injury, and in the grand scheme of things, I guess it could be looked at that way, but believe me, the figures for birth injuries, for instance, are appallingly high; the figures for trauma related bpi, such as yours, are not known, but, in the U.K., the number of bpi's caused by road traffic accidents is increasing annually. There are a lot of us out there....:0(
I can't help you with finding a doctor as I'm in the UK, but if you click on the 'resources' link at the top of the page (to the right of the logo..)then click 'web links' > hospital/doctor; it will give you a list of surgeons who are knowledgable in treating bpi's. At least this is a place to start :0)
It is very important to find a specialist experienced in this type of injury...once you have been asessed, you will get the proper advice on E-Stim, TNS etc.
Don't worry about the questions! Ask away...there will always be someone here who can help...Liz xx

Hi Allen
I live in the US I have never been to a specialist either but from reading the boards one name is said a lot with really high reviews. Dr. Nath in Lousiana appears to the best the US has to offer. Hopefully someone else sees this who has seen him and can tell you more. I hope this helps.

Hi, i think Mindy meant Dr Kline, Dr Nath is in Texas ('scuse my correction mindy no hitting!) - Dr Kline's email is dkline@lsumc.edu - the earlier after injury you get to see a specialist the better, good luck!
