This site is great. There seems to be a lot of info about
erb's palsy.
I am 28 yrs. old and I have klumpke's palsy. I have been doing physical rehab for the past three years and the results are terrific. I never knew that there was a name for this condition or what caused it until about a year ago.
I am interested in finding out about different types of therapy that are effective.

I really don't know to much about this injury, even though my 7 month old daughter has it. She started water therapy and it has had wonderful results just in the short amount of time she's been doing it. The very first day I noticed a big difference. She actually relaxed her arm and hand for the remainder of the day! I was so excited!
I don't know how water therapy would work for you but I guess it might be something to ask about. My husband and I are very happy with the results we've seen.
Take Care,
Barbara

Tom,
Our son is still little but we have him involved in a variety of therapies. Physical & occupational therapy, aqua therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, reflexology, myo-fascial release, e-stim, massage, and reiki energy.

Tom:
Hey, I am a 32 year old with Erb's. I found this website in 5/03, and had surgery 6 weeks ago. This board has helped me a great deal. I started therapy after my surgery. I never went before that. They started me off slow, but now I have a bar (can use a broom or golf club) & lift my arm with it. I also use a pulley. There are many things you can do, but you might want to fing a bpi doctor first.

Tom:
I'm 64 years old with ROBPI. Physical therapy was the only treatment available to me and I had weekly PT at an orthopedic clinic and on the dining room table for almost 12 years. Stretching, strength, and swimming exercises were all part of therapy during that time. I had a surgery at age 13 that improved my ROM to what I have today. PT and OT are an integral part of reaching the maximum possible recovery from this injury but surgery is a consideration even for adults. Several adults that contribute to the Forums have had surgeries and I learned that I'm a candidate at the recent UBPN Camp.
Deanna is right - obtaining expert BPI medical help is crucial to maximum possible recovery.
