Hi everyone:
Today my mom went to the doctor for a physical (she hasn't been to a doctor in years) and they found a lump on her breast. She has several appts next week regarding this and I am so scared to hear bad news!
She just turned 50 this month. I hope to God that this isn't a form of cancer.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers at this time.

Hi, I'm a radiology nurse. I hope the lump is nothing. If this helps, most lumps that are biopsied aren't malignant. There are several reasons for lumps, but it's good to get to the bottom of it. Is there a history of breast cancer? Best of luck.

Thank you for your post. No, there is not a history of breast cancer. There is actually no history of any form of cancer on her side. She is a very heavy smoker though!
