shorts rule

Post by CW1992 »

Hi everybody - thought I'd share a funny. Brittney is going in to Middle school this year. The school has a pretty strict short and shirt policy where all shorts have to be mid-thigh and past your fingertips when you put your arms straight down. She looked at me and said she knew which arm she was going to measure with if they called her in to the office!:) She plans on holding something in her 'good' arm and then using her other one to measure. She's not a rule-breaker or anything but this rule had her smiling. With everything she's worried about with starting a new school - I'm glad that she has a sense of humor.

Brittney is a smart girl! You should be proud that she has found a way to make lemonaid out of lemons! A great sense of humor will get her far!

It is amazing how creative we can be... I guess you could consider this another form of compensation... LOL... such a creative OBPI girl...

Thanks to you both for replying. This whole middle school thing - ..... it's sort of scary. She'll have a locker for the first time ever, (bottom locker! - I called and asked for one on the bottom for her since she can't reach both hands up all of the way) - she'll need to grab her books and change classes, she's starting band - learning how to play a clarinet, and she's alittle worried about PE and sticking out, what to do with her hair since she thinks she looks awkward brushing it, - I could go on and on. Then we hear the principle might check to see if their shorts are too short or their tops are too short. She'll have to raise both arms up to see if her stomach shows and then both arms straight down to make sure her shorts go past the fingertips, - and most of her shorts are semi-short - -but we went shopping for longer ones and founds some) anyway I was so relieved when she started laughing and said that "cool - I'll just measure with left arm if they have me measure". She had me laughing again last night - she likes to make popping or cracking sounds when I help her stretch sometimes - she knows that gets me (I cringe and scream thinking I'm popping her arm out of place) - anyway - she has alot of worries but she seems to find something funny about them.
She starts school on Monday - thanks for listening and understanding,
Christy
