I think sending the letters to oprah is a great idea to get this into the national spotlight. If it raises awareness for just one doctor, it will be worth it. Have you stopped accepting letters, if not please let me know

Hi, My name is Tanya and I have a son that suffers from Brachial Plexus injury. At birth, my son was 13# and has suffered from one of the worse cases that doctors have seen. All of the nerves and muscles in his right arm have been totally severed. Elijah is now 3 years old, and sufferes extremely from his injury. He has has three surgeries and goes to phsical thearaphy four times a week and has only gained 20% of his usage back. He cannot function like a normal three year old should, he cannot use the bathroom by himself, he cannot get dressed by himself, he cannot groom himself, and the worst of all, he cannot keep a steady balance when runnign or trying to do other simular activites. I am now trying to raise money so that I can take his to the orthopedic speacialist in Texas for a second opinion, so that I can see if there is any other alternatives to help us with the rehabilitaion of his arm.

Hi, I just found this site last week. After her show earlier this year on Misconceptions, I e-mailed Oprah about my child's LOBPI. Hoping she would do a show and inform the world about this injury. After finding this site last week I e-mailed the show again. Now I see there was an organized effort also. Fantastic! Hope it works.

Has anyone from UBPN thought of formally inviting her or one/some of her production team to the camp in September?

My feeling is only after meeting some of the parents and kids will she/they consider doing a show about this.

I love the thought of getting Oprah's attention. I just went to the www.oprah.com and became a member of her website. I also sent an email to her. I think that if EVERYONE that reads this sends an email to her (and her staff), it might help the influence. You may copy what I typed and paste it as your email. Good Luck to all of us. Teresa

A member of your staff has a package of information from moms and dads about BRACHIAL PLEXUS INJURIES. Hopefully you and your staff will address this horrific problem happening with children during delivery. My daughter was also injured at birth. Please consider helping others by investigating BPI. Thank you. Teresa
