Tendon transfers

Post by KatiesMom »

Hi Everyone! Well, we go to Brachial Plexus Clinic on Monday at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Every time we see the doctor, he says we need to keep our thoughts open about tendon transfer surgery in the future. Does anyone have experience with this surgery and/or thoughts on it? I'd appreciate any and all insight. God's blessings to you all....

Hi !

Maia had this type of surgery at TCH and did very well with it- it gave her a LOT of function. I know another mom who goes to your clinic and I will forward your post to her...

Good luck!!

Cheri,
I will be at the Clinic in Pittsburgh on Monday too!!!
What time is your appointment? Do you see Dr. Adeslon? We are at 9 am I would love to hook up with it if possible. I am driving over on Sunday (I live in IL). I believe you and I have e-mailed before!

We haven't had the tendon transfer surgery but I do have a lot of thought I could share with you at some point! The docs in Pittsburgh haven't yet recommended it but 2 others did just recently so it will be intresting to see what is said on Monday.
Blessings,
Kristie

Katie, if you're interested in getting another opinion, contact me. I'm hosting a bpi gathering in Columbus, Ohio on July 19th. There will be many families whose children have had muscle/tendon transfers/releases. There is no cost for the picnic.

Cheri,
I wanted to let you know that I will keep my eyes opened for you at the clinic on Monday. I would to meet if possible. Again e-mail me!! I have to leave very early tomorrow morning since we live so far away. We are not sure where we are staying so I can't give you that info but I am going to have Ian wear the great BPI t-shirt that Francine gave him (THANKS FRANCINE- he gets tons of compliments on it!) It has a dinosaur on the front with the word BRACHIOPLEXAURUS over the picture. There are words on the back too! If you see us please say HI!!!

They do the same to my daughter their too. Does you see Dr. Adelson? Our next trip won't be until the end of Sept. I've got her in PT/OT every week trying to avoid the surgery... Her range of motion hasn't increased much though. We still have alot of time to work on it though.
