My brother was recently seen by Dr. De Lotbiniere while he was hospitalized for another surgery at Yale New Haven. He has a left bpi after a snowmobile accident. The bpi is the last injury he has to deal with after his accident. Dr. De Lotbiniere was a little vague. My brother needs more tests to determine extent of his injury. We will probably go back to see him in July. He talked about intercostal nerve transplants. Gave us hope for some shoulder/elbow not much for hand. I have not heard of anyone who has seen him for bpi, like you - just found him on the internet.Since we were going to Yale for another surgery I figured we would just get a consult. His specialty is mapping of the brain for epilepsy according to drs. and nurses at Yale (I asked everyone I met)He said he had done a "fair amount" of bpi surgeries. So overall- not overly impressed?! We have an appointment with Andrew Price/Dr. Grossman at St. Luke's Roosevelt (some Dr. friends of ours recommended)Heard about Dr. Maniker from NJ - considering him. We don't want to go down to Miami,Houston or Louisiana. Who have you seen? We are from New York area.

We live in New York, but went down to New Orleans for the surgery. That was 6 months ago. My son is beginning to get movement back. He can bend his elbow just slightly now. He had 9 nerve grafts done. He is right brachial plexus.

Thanks for te information Patti! I found them on the net as well but havent heard anything good or bad, but with not hearing anything back from the doctors that I emailed there 3 weeks ago, I figure screw it. I live in Michigan and see a great doctor in Louisville, KY Dr. Wolff. He has been GREAT but he keeps saying "wait and see", but I cant wait anymore so I am going to Louisiana to see Dr. Kline and just see what he has to say! Good luck to your brother and keep us informed!

Maureen, Courtney et al.

Congratulations Maureen/Gianni on your surgical success. We also are having good recovery. My 23 year old son had surgery with Dr. Tiel Oct. 2000.

Courtney - Is the Dr. Wolff you speak of the same Dr. Wolff who used to be at Yale in New Haven, Ct. If so, we had a consultation with him but his plans at the time were to leave within a month for New York. I think he was a very good doctor even though we had our surgery in New Orleans.

I believe that the Dr. Wolff that I see is a different one. I talked with my phyiotrist (sp?) today and he thinks that seeing Dr. Kline would be a good idea, so I'll be scheduling an apt. with him ASAP! Thanks!!

Courtney-

We located Dr. Scott Wolfe - he is now at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. He was great - spent a lot of time with my brother. He operated on him August 12 and was able to do everything he told us he would do preoperatively. Good Luck!!
