Cathy - airfare is just way too expensive.
I considered doing a tour bus but there has been no response to this.
So now I am considering train which seems to be decent in terms of schedule and price...
So about transfers from Albany to the camp...
do you know how far the train station is from where the pickup is?
Are others coming by train and will the train station be another place for pickup?
Thanks,
francine

Francine,
Cathy may be able to shed more light on this, but my understanding is that the bus will only be leaving from the Albany airport.
You could check with the train station and see where it is in relation to the airport.
One more thought; A friend of ours rented a converter van to go to CA and back to WA with her two children. Maybe that would be something you guys might want to check on. I'm not really sure you'd want to drive that distance, either, but just a thought.

Francine,
Regarding the train...The stop closest to the camp is Ticonderoga. Ryan is all too familiar with it, and I know he'd be pleased to give you details. Basically, it is in the middle of a field. I saw it with my own eyes. From there, you're about a 30 minute drive from camp at the most, if my recollection is correct. It's a beautiful drive...very scenic. Cathy

Re: Albany Bus To Camp ? from airport? how about train station?
We are planning on taking the train to camp, but will be getting off at the Albany station. Is that near the airport or the camp??
Re: Albany Bus To Camp ? from airport? how about train station?
My understanding is that the Albany station is near the airport, which is still a ways from the camp. Perhaps you can take the train to the Albany station and then get to the airport where you can catch the camp shuttle? Cathy

It's 10 miles from the Albany train station to the Albany Airport
here's the mapquest link to those directions:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main ... &x=58&y=11
I wonder would be easier? take a taxi from train to airport so that we could catch the shuttle...
OR get off at Ticonderoga and take a taxi from there?
or maybe if many parents do the train, there could be a camp shuttle to the Ticonderoga station since that's closer?
That would be kewl to train in together....
