Boston April 9th...anyone else?

Post by admin »

Mariella will be seeing DR Water's in Boston on April 9th at 2:00pm.
Just wondering if anyone else will be there that day.
Sometimes I JUST miss some of you by a day or so.

Sorry Krista, we will be in Boston in May. Justin is going to have his MRI done then. Hopefully, we will meet soon. I changed my sign-on since there are two Melissa's.

We went into Boston this morning for a standard follow up appointment. Dr. Waters says Jason is doing great! We agree, Jason's made steady progress since 3 months, he's 6 months now. Advice is to keep stretching out his shoulder area while stabilizing the scapula so he hopefully won't have issues with external rotation or reaching up high down the road. He's starting to reach farther and rotate on his own so that's good.

Jason's also in a study about difference in length of his arms and another BPI study as well. Right now his BPI arm is about 1cm shorter which is typical for this injury and is not a cause of concern right yet. It's good that his clinic collaborates with other hospitals and the academic community to share statistical data and techniques, one of the things we like about going there.

Steve,
Glad to hear that you had a very positive visit with DR Waters. I always loved getting that great news. This past time was the first time I had to learn how to except "bad news."

Mariella is also in the study. At our first visit I had to agree to the study and sign some paper about it. Ella's arm is a bit shorter also and when I asked DR Waters he said that most cases are not noticable as they get older. I believe that he said from what he has learned and from what he has seen there is a 3 % difference in the overall arm length with the injured arm being shorter.

His studies consist of working with clincs and doctors here in the US and also in other countries. This will someday better help other BPI children in my opinion.

When are you due to go back next? We are in for May 19th for her MRI and visit with DR Waters.

Well, Jason sounds like he is progressing very well. I hope everything continues to stay positive for you!
