Mod Quad Surgery
Has anyone's child ever received the mod quad surgery?? Did your child gain or lose any motions? Any stories would be great
Re: Mod Quad Surgery
My daughter gained a lot of range from the mod quad. It was amazing.

Re: Mod Quad Surgery
My son is about to be scheduled for a Mod Quad surgery in a few months in Houston. The same doctors who did his nerve transfer. How was it dealing with your child in the splint with their arm up in the air? Did they experiecne much discomfort or pain from that or the surgery itself? Thanks

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

Re: Mod Quad Surgery
I think after birth erbs ,62 years ago the splint would of changed?? Sleeping with a splint hurts, Sleeping on side and Resting the arm and shoulder in a stack of pillows help with the pain , My mom came up with this idea when I was a ,baby it help I still use a small pillow between my arm and side when sleeping, It changes the angle of shoulder and lesson pain . When I was born the doctor broke my scapula to, Ouch
Just thinking,Hope it helps?

Re: Mod Quad Surgery
She did amazing!!! She was very upset for about two hours after the surgery, but then she adapted perfectly! She wasnt in any noticeable pain at all. Maybe her age (10 months at time of surgery) had to do with the way she adapted, but she simply amazed me! She moves around very well! It took her a few days to figure out how to balance sitting up but she got it! Amazing how children differ from adults. She slept fine and everything. We did have to trim the cast a bit, but otherwise she did amazing!

Re: Mod Quad Surgery
My daughter is 3yrs old now and needs the Mod Quad and the Triangle Tilt surgeries, I would love to get feedback from anyone who knows what to expect or if anyone knows what the long term results good and bad could be. Thank you!
Re: Mod Quad Surgery
You may want to post this as a new question. Also, you should make it clear that this is Dr. Nath's version of the ModQuad. Many doctors have adopted that name for standard set of shoulder tendon transfers, but Dr. Nath does these much differently. Also, no one else does the Triangle Tilt (as far as I know). You might want to investigate why not.ABOWMAN77 wrote:My daughter is 3yrs old now and needs the Mod Quad and the Triangle Tilt surgeries, I would love to get feedback from anyone who knows what to expect or if anyone knows what the long term results good and bad could be.
